Custom lattices, an added value for retail architecture
The project of “The Workshop of Ideas” was born in 2008 with the aim of offering a multidisciplinary social project, aimed at children, in which educational didactics are generated and projects related to Corporate Social Responsibility are promoted. With campuses aimed at the emotional development of minors, the reinforcement of their personal autonomy, and the responsible integration of new technologies, they offer an innovative and inclusive educational approach in areas that, due to their current situation, affect us quickly.

Sun protection needs
The project consists of the rehabilitation and refurbishment of a premises on the ground floor, with two faces open to Plaza Tenerías, in the surroundings of the old town of Zaragoza. Due to their typology and conception, the lattices act as an element of control of natural light, as well as protection from the outside, hiding the views and delimiting the interior courtyard of the plot itself.
The ability to become a visual eye-catcher through the use of custom lattices is a novelty in our range, and an important added value for the customer, both for the explosion of incorporated colors and for the flexibility provided by the vinyls, which can be modified at will at a very low cost.
Our contribution to the project
This is a project that is presented in the section on completed projects as an example of using available resources to obtain maximum performance.
The project of “El obrador de Ideas” has a fairly small executed area, but which is compensated by an outstanding attention to detail, and which resolves, in a practical way, a significant number of technical challenges arising both from the location of the project and from the limitations imposed by the lattices themselves.
The choice of the lattices to be installed, the UPO-350-FE, is in itself a declaration of intent.
It is a lattice of adjustable steel slats, with a slat width of 35 cm, which is on the one hand, a challenge to prevent them from leaving the façade lines, and on the other hand, a technical solution, since they are more suitable for installation on the ground floor, and admit the necessary length of a piece without problem.
To these factors, we must add the search for a system of customised lattices to the extreme, in which we have been able to adjust the distance between axles, in order to square the slats to the openings of the work, and which have been manufactured in two colours, and two differentiated projections.
All these factors respond to a specific need of the project, and as you can see, we continue talking about perforated lattices without commenting on the most striking factor, the incorporation of vinyl.
Thanks to the fluid shapes of this lattice, and the wide slat widths, the incorporation of this exterior finish has been comparatively fast, and taking into account the incorporation of vinyls with UV filters, it is a durable solution, which will not lose color over time.
To maximise the integration of the slats into the design, linear drive electric motors have been incorporated to minimise thermal runaway and improve the operating comfort of the lattices.
