Lattices for industrial buildings in Meco
Today’s project is the installation of lattices for an industrial warehouse in Meco, a town located in the north of the Community of Madrid, very close to the connection between the R-2 and the A-2.
It corresponds to the expansion of the facilities of the company Laboratorios Alter, a pharmaceutical company with a history of more than 75 years, which has, among others, the brands Nutribén, or Germinal. It is present in international markets, including Asia, Europe, Africa and Latin America, where it markets, in addition to the brands already mentioned, a successful line of generic medical products, under the trade name “Alter Generics”. Thus, the activity of this pharmaceutical company positions it as a national benchmark, both in terms of turnover and market position.
Sun protection needs
The incorporation of lattices for industrial warehouses is an upward trend, both for the design possibilities and for the improvement in working conditions that the use of natural light for the lighting of spaces entails.
In this case, the lattice has been installed on a connecting walkway between two buildings, which has a main glass enclosure. This enclosure is the main barrier of protection, providing watertightness and allowing a lot of light to pass through.
This walkway is a typical case of use of lattices for industrial buildings, because it offers a solution for the control of natural light, is an active agent against the greenhouse effect and aesthetically integrates the walkway into the building project, aesthetically connecting the new building with the existing facilities.
Our contribution to the project
The selected product is the
UPO-250
mobile slat lattice, a high-performance model that has allowed us to achieve the necessary spans to cover this gap, with one-piece slats, and which, thanks to the precise adjustment of the spacing between axes, fluidly saves the 90º meeting areas that the project requires. Another of the key advantages of this model for installation on this site is its tongue and groove closing system, a solution that is applied to the small and medium-sized models in our range, which improves the darkening factor of the slats. These factors, added to the competitive price range, make the UPO-250 a very popular lattice for industrial buildings.
Since it is a special color, we also wanted to highlight the finish of the slats, in a metallic gold color, manufactured following the patterns marked by the rest of the surrounding elements, and which has been perfectly integrated, especially taking into account the gabled design of the slats.
With regard to the operation of the slats, a manual operation system has been incorporated by means of controls on slats. This solution consists of a standard drive element, with fittings specially adapted so that the slats can be driven from any point on the lattices, as opposed to the standard systems that place the controls on the end tubes. It is a very popular solution in these projects because it represents economic savings compared to electric drive motors, both in the first installation and in long-term consumption.
