The
Escola Ginebró
is a cooperative educational centre, with more than 50 years of history, located in Llinars del Vallés, a town near Granollers, in the province of Barcelona. With a population of just over 10,000 inhabitants, the center is located to the west of the center of the town, practically on the outskirts, a relevant factor for the educational model of the center.

The training offered by this school is based on its own internal pedagogical structure based on the stages of personal development of students from 3 to 18 years old (for people from 18 years of age they also have specific training cycles), on an educational program that gives great relevance to the roots of the center in its environment. Within the teaching project, social involvement programs and the plans of the “
Green Schools
” project are integrated in which the link of students with the natural environment is promoted, a factor very present in the architecture of the center both for its design and for the topographical characteristics of its environment.

Sun protection needs

The design by the architect
Joan Padrosa
pays careful attention to the sustainability of the building to align it with the educational policy of the centre. To this end, the use of sustainable, highly durable materials that allow energy consumption to be reduced as much as possible is valued. The project of the new buildings, designed on two floors, is mainly oriented towards the southeast, which achieves a lot of natural light. This factor, controlled by means of façades with adjustable slats, allows thermal contributions to the interior, and a constant and uniform flow of natural light.

On a technical level, the building’s slatted façade is conceived as a bioclimatic façade that allows the integration of the control of natural light inside the rooms, with the reduction of the thermal load to be supported by the carpentry systems thanks to both the reduction of direct solar radiation and the generation of an air chamber in continuous circulation. that collaborates in the elimination of heat and insulation from the outside.

Our contribution to the project

Our first recommendation for the needs of this project has been the
UPO-250
adjustable slat lattice. It is a lattice that has proven to be extremely durable, and thanks to its large slat size, it combines a regulation of natural light with a good free passage, which improves the feeling of spaciousness of the interior. Its function as a façade with slats is reinforced by its cantilevered arrangement as a continuous element, so that the modules of the two floors form a ventilation chamber that acts as a thermal chimney

To adapt to the needs of all the modules of the building, we have incorporated UPO-480 lattices

which serve as a shade projection system for the access hall and also
UPO-150
type lattices for small openings, in which this model, thanks to maintaining the same design as the UPO-250, is perfectly integrated into the façades. Thanks to the breadth of our range, and the clever design of the building, we have been able to offer a uniform and fully functional comprehensive solution to a project with very varied sun protection needs.
