Adjustable exterior blinds for residential architecture

Adjustable slatted blinds for innovative residential architecture.

Today’s project is an example of the adaptation of architecture to the changes in our society. We present the 100 homes in Torrejón by Ardoz de Burgos and Garrido architects.

Torrejón de Ardoz is a town near Madrid, in the Henares corridor, very famous for the location of the air base. Due to its proximity to Madrid, and its proximity to the A-2, it is a very attractive town, and its growth in recent years proves it.

Following the Covid-19 pandemic, there has been a shift in the tastes of homebuyers. Families want a more open home, with more outdoor spaces, and the importance of terraces is recovered. It is in this scenario that these homes stand out especially.

Sun protection needs

This project is designed around the concept of an interior block, on which the plot, with a square floor plan, marks the exterior forms of the complex.

The construction consists of 4 blocks interconnected with each other by open walkways, oriented towards an interior courtyard, which connects with the street through garden areas. This solution provides specific advantages in ventilation and sunlight, along with an improvement in the luminosity of homes.

Our contribution to the project

Due to the aforementioned characteristics of luminosity and openness of the project, there are some challenges related to the use of the building for housing, and it is here where the incorporation of
UPO-105
lattice blinds provides a solution.

One of the functions that this product fulfills is the closing of clotheslines. Unlike traditional roller shutter systems, lattice blinds can serve the function of concealing views, while allowing good light passage and ventilation, making them an ideal solution for this use.

Another of the uses for which this product has been incorporated is to improve the privacy of homes with exterior windows on the ground floor. Again, lattices make it possible to protect the privacy of homes by maintaining controlled natural lighting, unlike traditional roller shutter systems.

We also take this opportunity to highlight the incorporation of modules with internal divisions. This solution allows the slats of the openings to be oriented in several weaves, independently, further increasing the flexibility of this solution. In the photos you can see that there are gaps that have the slats at the bottom closed, while from a certain size, the slats are oriented to improve the passage of light.

This project is an example of the advantages of lattice blinds over traditional roller shutters, with specific use cases in which they provide technical solutions that could not be achieved with similar systems. In projects of this type, with a high degree of specialisation and a high level of concern for comfort, they are an added value to achieve maximum efficiency, as demonstrated by their sales success.

The 100 homes in Torrejón are a project that dates back to 2021, and which we present on our website with recently taken images, which reflect the current state of the project.
